Learning the Program
----------
After you connect, all 3 windows should be filled with data (See Graphic Below).

( See Graphic Above)
Get to know the AceFTP buttons and where everything is located.
Other than the FTP arrow buttons,
the ONLY buttons you will use in AceFTP are:
1 - Make New Folder
2 - Re-Name
3 - Delete.
----------
The ONLY files you will be transferring will be:
---------
.htm = HTML
.jpg / .gif = Graphics
---------
You'll be working in the lower left and lower right windows.
The lower left is where you'll see your home computer files and folders.
NOTE: Whether you are connected or not, the files show in the lower left window.
You can navigate to any drive on your computer from this window!
The lower right window is the server window where you'll see
the files and folders of your website.
---------
The buttons you need are small (See Graphic Below) so look carefully!
Play around with the menu items
and you can change button locations,
and which buttons you want in the display.
Though their locations around
the home and server windows are changable,
the buttons and their functions remain the same.
Each FTP program (there are many!)
has it's own characteristic graphics for buttons.
We will focus ONLY on AceFTP buttons (See Graphic Below).

It's a simple quick sequence to FTP:

Click File>Connect>, then double click the new icon you made.
As you connect you'll see data scrolling in the top window.
Files and folders will appear in the lower right window,
and the buttons you need will become available around the window.

Select the ".htm", ".jpg", ".gif" files on home side (lower left corner window of AceFTP - See Graphic Above).

Click the FTP arrow button (the one pointing to the right) to FTP (See Graphic Above).
All selected files will be FTP'd...hold down the "Ctrl" key to select multiple files!
Select the ".htm" file you just sent (now in the lower right window of AceFTP).
Re-name the .htm file to "index.html", and you're done.

Every web page has one "index.html" file.

(See Graphic Above)
You may see a "Confirm Collision Action" dialogue box appear
when you FTP a file with the same name to the server.
Click the "Overwrite" button to continue.
This will happen frequently, as you will be writing over existing files.
The relationship between graphics and the .htm files
will become obvious to you as you view pages and HTML in IExplorer.

On the SERVER computer as well as your HOME computer,
the .htm file MUST be in the same folder as the .jpg's and the .gif's
for the photos to show!
The next lesson contains more on connecting to your server and how to FTP.
